Quilt Related Acronyms and Abbreviations

BOB - depending upon previous discussions, could be black on black, blue on blue or beige on beige BOM - Block of the Month, something offered by quilt shops, both local ones and online. Charm Pack - package of pre-cut squares COC - cream on cream D4P - Double four patch DIC - Double Irish Chain Dimes - 10" squares DSM - domestic sewing machine F8 = Fat Eighth FE - fat eighth 1/8 yard cut from a 1/4 yard of fabric measuring 9 x 22 inches FM - free motion quilting FQ - fat quarter - 1/4 yard cut from a 1/2 yard of fabric measuring 18 x 22 inches Frog Stitching - ripping out stitched seams (rip it, rip it) FW - Featherweight FW--fusible web. no brand specific GF - girl friend or God forbid or Grandmother's Fan GFG -Grandmothers Flower Garden GPM - Go Private Message HP - hand piecing HQ - hand quilting HST - Half Square Triangles Jelly Rolls - pre-cut noodles rolled up and sold as a set LQS - local quilt shop Meme - It is a series of questions that you see on someone's blog, and then answer them yourself. Sometimes a meme will tag other readers to do the same. Nickles - 5" squares Noodles - 2 1/2" by width of fabric. NQA - not quilt related (an alternative to OT) OSMG - Old Sewing Machine Guy PCT - Podcasting PIGS - Project In Grocery Sack PIW--project in waiting (waiting to grow up to be a WIP) PM-private message PP - paper piece PPing - paper piecing QOTD - Question of the day, Quick off topic discussion or quilting off topic discussion QST- Quarter Square Triangles QYW = quiltsyourway.com ROFLOL - rolling on the floor laughing out loud SABLE - stash acquired beyond life expectancy SaS--Steam a Seam SEX- stash enhancing experiance SID - stitch in ditch quilting SnW--Stack and Whack SQ -simply quilts TIC - Triple Irish Chain TOAD - trashed object abandoned in disgust TOT- tone on tone UFO - Unfinished Object (Project) WHIMM - Work Held (or Hidden) In My Mind WIP- work in progress WOA - Work of art WOF--width of fabric WOW - white on white YBR - yellow brick road
