On Sat. on FRi/SAt we got a total of 24" of snow. the worse part is that we have been without power since FRi night. We have gas logs in our family room and lots of food, and a gas cook topo we will survive physically, but we may not make it with the electronic withdrawal. This makes for lots of family time. The worse part is that they are now peicting 4-8" more Tues into Wed. If the power would just be restored.
At moment I almost wish I was a hand piecer, at least I'd get something done. I did mail my squishes today. Fortunately I was not planning on doing a superbowl mystery quilt - no access yesterday. My thanks go to Barnes & Noble. DD#3 and I are here with our laptops so we can get the internet. We are enjoying some beverages also. I need to get some work done and this is one place I can do it. Hope everyone has a good week. I'll check in later when I can. Prayers and hugs for all. Lyn |

Lyn--Hope you get your power restored soon. Where we live now we rarely have outages but I lived in community where there were regular planned outages plus the unplanned ones above that. Handwork of some nature was a must at that time. A generator and flashlights for the store were also necessary.
Isn't it great that you have an outlet to not feel totally withdrawn from the world?

Lyn--I agree with Cindy that until you try hand piecing you don't know whether you might like it. I have only been hand piecing for a year and it comes in handy for times when quiet is required like 6 am and DH is sleeping. I've already pieced for an hour this morning. Of course, when all you have is candle light it is an option, too.

Lyn, hope you get your power back today. We haven't had any snow this year or power outages for several years, knock on wood!
I hope you are staying warm. Even with a fireplace it's hard to keep yor hands warm enough to hand piece. Stay warm and safe. And thanks to B & N for getting you the service you need. The last time our power was out there was no power within 10 miles of us or maybe more.

Thanks for the good wishes. The power came back on about 8:30 this morning. The concern now is the new snow that is falling. The prediction is 4-9" of new snow. I hope this is it. It's nice having electric, internet and heat. I forgot to mention we have the cleanest refrigerator/freezer. We did a very thorough job of cleaning while it when we had to empty it the other day. Something positive from the storm.
Everyone east of me beware it's coming your way. Lyn |
