I saw someone in a quilting class not long ago splicing batting together with iron-on interfacing. It was a "Why didin't I think of that moment?". Make sure the interfacing is light weight--it worked like a charm.

I keep the cardboard pieces that rick rack/bias tape/fat quarters are wrapped around. Then when I make binding for a quilt, I wrap it around the cardboard pieces to keep it nicely pressed and organized until I can sew it onto the quilt.

I like to cut my binding strips and sew them together when I finish piecing a top. That way I don't have to remember what I was going to use for the binding. I get it pressed in half and then wrap it around a toilet paper roll. When ready to sew on the finished quilt, I place the toilet paper roll on a spindle off to the side of the machine. It keeps it from dragging on the floor or possibly me strangling myself with the loose binding winding around me.

Oh, Pat, using the toilet paper and then using the spindle sounds like the most wonderful hint yet for binding that I have ever come across. I'm just in the process of preparing the binding for the quilt I am currently piecing and I will give it a shot. Thank you.

Pat,
That's cool, I think I will try that when I bind my next quilt.
